Scheduling an encounter

The product names the encounter for the account profession: medical specialties and psychiatry use appointment; psychology, psychoanalysis, nutrition, and speech therapy use session.

1. Choose the new-encounter action from the Schedule or home surface.
2. Select an existing patient, or enter a first and last name to create a patient with the encounter.
3. Choose a future start time and duration. Suggested times respect work hours, blocked time, the default duration, and the configured interval. The date-and-time picker can still schedule outside work hours.
4. Optionally repeat weekly or monthly at an interval from 1 to 12, with an optional end date.
5. Save.

Overlapping encounters are allowed. A past start time is rejected. A monthly recurrence whose requested day cannot produce valid dates in the selected range is also rejected. Correct the field and save again.

A recurring save creates the occurrences as separate encounters. Editing or deleting one occurrence does not edit or delete its siblings.

Tip

Use the Schedule list view to search by patient name and browse encounters by date. The calendar can switch between day and month views.
