Follow the implemented setup order on a new installation:

1. Sign in. Enter your email and verify the one-time code, or use Sign in with Google. Sign in with Apple is available only on iPhone and iPad.
2. Confirm language and region. Review the language and regional format selected for the account.
3. Create an encryption password. Enter 8 to 128 characters and confirm the same value. The app derives key material and wraps the data key on-device. Maestra does not store the plaintext encryption password.
4. Save the recovery key. This alternate unlock method can set a new encryption password if the current one is forgotten. On iOS and Android, use the exposed share, email, or screenshot actions. On web, copy the key or download it.
5. Complete the profile. Add the display name and an optional photo.
6. Select profession and title. The profession determines the encounter, generated-note, assistant, and template labels. An applicable title preference is selected separately.
7. Finish setup. Maestra opens the You tab.

Keep both unlock methods safe

An encrypted recovery-key backup is stored with the account so an unlocked installation can reveal it later after encryption-password verification. Maestra cannot read that key. If neither the encryption password nor the recovery key is available, the encrypted records cannot be unlocked.

The recovery key is not limited to the setup screen. Open Settings and Recovery Key on an unlocked installation, then verify the encryption password to reveal it again.
